Cardamom Poached Pears with Pistachios
Inspired by the aromatic dessert traditions of the Middle East, these cardamom poached pears are an elegant, naturally gluten-free way to end any meal. Firm pears are simmered low and slow in a fragrant syrup infused with cardamom pods, a cinnamon stick, citrus zest, and a splash of vanilla until they turn silky and tender, taking on a gentle golden hue and deep spice perfume. The poaching liquid is then reduced into a glossy syrup that gets spooned generously over the fruit. To finish, the pears are showered with crushed pistachios for crunch and color, then drizzled with honey for a final layer of natural sweetness. The result is a dessert that feels luxurious yet is light, naturally sweetened, and free of gluten-containing ingredients, making it a safe and sophisticated option for anyone following a gluten-free diet, including those managing celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Serve it warm, at room temperature, or chilled alongside a dollop of yogurt or a scoop of dairy-free ice cream for an effortlessly impressive finale.
